English language becomes more and more popular worldwide. It seems to be very similar to Latin which was the language of ancient world. But would one language lead to better international relations. Are there any threats for common relationships between people? There are many arguments that can be raised.
Firstly, one language spoken by almost all people could create a better communication between them. It might help to elude any misunderstanding, which is the basis for conflicts. Secondly, one tongue would be able to contribute to peoples mutual acceptation. All relations, especially on the international scale should be based on religious and sex equality, that can be achieved by explaining differences. It has to be done in a way that everyone understands. Finally, one common language would be very helpful in work and science. Its vital as international relations are often concerned with money and technology.
On the other hand there are many arguments against one common language. It would mean domination of one country over others. Good relationships, as mentioned earlier, require equilibrium and equality. Moreover, using only one tongue may become a threat for less spread and traditional languages, that could even lead to its extinctions. What is more, international relations should care about diversity of culture and tradition in order to save national awareness and identity.
All things considered, I firmly believe that one language could be very good solution to international conflicts and tensions. Nowadays our world really needs lingua franca for steady development and acceptation.
